This week.
Often or not always, I found myself envious of those who can write and tell stories from their everyday life like it’s the most inspiring story they had ever told and true be told, it does inspire others (well at least their stories inspire me!). So what is that extra “good feelings” did they inject in their stories to reach out and pull my heartstrings?
I really wish to know and learn. I wish to inspire myself and others along the way. Is this possible? I keep asking myself.
This week, I’ve shown a Malay movie “Papa I love you” to a girl whose father had just been incarcerated. I don’t know if it’s a good move or just a dumb one. But I told myself, it is just a movie and it helps the time to pass tad faster.
She watched the first 10 minutes with just silence and not once she looked at me and asked if I’ve watched it before (yes I did).
10 minutes went on to half an hour, she stared at the screen watching and taking in all the scenes and the quirkiness of the actors/actresses without even laughing or the slight change of expression. I grew concern. Maybe I should stop the movie and when I did made a notion to watch something else, she objects and mentioned that she wanted to watch til the end. Sadly we managed to watch to about 45minutes before she had to go the after-school care.
She thanked me and smiled and walked off. Never did she talked to me about the movie nor did she complains. But when she smiled few moment ago, it was a sad smile. I knew that the movie meant much more to her than just a funny quirky movie.
I think there’s a lot of movies that would connect to me like this movie had impacted her. And with the ever growing industry of moviemaking in neighbouring countries, I’m not surprised if the human stories are more captured ever so real.
Would my life be a good movie?
